"0xc00d36c4" error: the video cannot be played
Short answer: Windows Films & TV shows this error when it cannot open a file. Either the format is not supported or the file is damaged. Upload the file to our site; we check which one it is.
Why?
- The player does not know the format (for example some H.265 videos).
- The file is unfinished: the recording or the copy did not finish.
Do this now
- Look at the size of the file: 0 bytes means there is no data in it.
- If you use an SD card, set its write protection (WP) switch and keep it.
- Do not record on the card or disk again.
Do not
- Do not install random "codec packs" from the internet.
- Do not try other repair programs on the original file.
What we do
- We check whether the file is really damaged.
- If it is damaged, we repair it or prepare a compatible copy that opens in every player.
- We also show how much of the file is empty (zeros).
Questions
The file shows 0 bytes. This file holds no picture. But the picture may still be on the card; bring the card to our lab.
What is a compatible copy? A copy of the video that opens in every player. The picture may be a little softer.
