Video does not open after a crash, a drop or water
Short answer: when a drone crashes, a camera falls or gets wet, or a car has an accident, the recording stops suddenly and the file does not open. Bring us the file or the card; the part recorded before the accident usually comes back.
Do this now
- Take the card out of the device.
- If you use an SD card, set its write protection (WP) switch and keep it.
- Do not record on the card.
- Copy the file to a computer and upload the original to our site.
If the device got wet
- Do not switch it on or charge it.
- Take the card out. If the card is wet, do not put it in a computer before it is dry.
- If the card cannot be read, bring it to our lab.
Do not
- Do not format the card, even if the device asks.
- If the camera offers a repair when the card goes back in, say no; the broken file can be deleted. Copy the card first.
- Do not try other repair programs on the original file.
What comes back?
- The part recorded before the accident usually comes back.
- The result page shows how much of the video came back.
Questions
Why are the last seconds missing? Picture that was not written to the card when the power went is not on it; that part cannot come back.
I need the accident video for insurance or court. Keep the original file and the card. If needed, click "Ask our expert"; an engineer looks at the file by hand.
