Short answer: to repair the files of some cameras, a working video of the same camera is needed. Most files need none; if one is needed, the page tells you.
When is a sample needed?
- When your camera is not in our library.
- You can give the sample while the broken file uploads. If you did not and it is needed, the result page tells you; you do not need to upload the broken file again.
A good sample
- Made with the same camera.
- Made with the same resolution and frame rate (for example 4K 25p).
- Short is fine; even a few seconds work.
- Straight from the camera, not converted while copied to a phone or computer.
Your sample video
- The sample is not sent whole; only the first seconds the repair needs are taken.
- The sample is kept in our library as a reference; it helps repair later files from the same camera. You can ask us to delete it.
Questions
I have no video from the same camera. Mostly that is fine: our library holds hundreds of camera profiles.
Does a video from another camera work? Usually not.
