Panasonic camcorder recording stopped half way

Short answer: when a Panasonic camcorder loses power or the card is pulled, the last recording often will not open. Upload the file and we repair it. Most Panasonic recordings need no sample video.

Why?

  • The battery died while recording.
  • The card was taken out while recording.
  • In MOV, MP4 and AVCHD (MTS) recordings the last file can be cut.

Do this now

  • Turn off the camera and take the card out.
  • If you use an SD card, set its write protection (WP) switch and keep it.
  • When you put the card into a computer, do not accept "repair" or "format".
  • Copy all files on the card, not only the broken video.

Do not

  • Do not record on the same card again.
  • If the camera offers a repair when the card goes back in, say no; the broken file can be deleted. Copy the card first.

Questions

Do the last seconds come back? Everything written to the card comes back. Picture that was not written when the power went is not on the card.

Is a sample video needed? For most Panasonic recordings, no. If it is, the page tells you: a short clip made with the same camera and the same settings is enough.

If the card cannot be read, bring it to our lab.
